Early description about my Generative music mood machine

Here is the very early words about my next iOS machine.
This will be my 3rd application on App Store after:
- Mobile Particles
- Digital Collisions for iPad & iPhone/iPod
- The Droner

Best way to keep informed: http://julienbayle.net/contact-subscribe

I’m still developing some parts but the main core is totally ok and I’ll make you hearing a bit asap.
The main purpose is to make the most amazing & efficient mood machine ever.

Because Less is More, I worked and removed progressively a lot of features to keep only the main interesting from an aesthetic & zen point of view.

It includes around 7 moods and more are coming.
Each mood can play (or not, as you’d prefer) unique soundscapes  designed especially for this application by me.

Mobile Mood Machine is one of the strangest iOS application amongst a lot of music application for iPad.

Mobile Mood Machine provides a playground you can touch with your fingers.
Rules are really easy and minimalistic:
- touch the screen to create spherical creatures popping out sine waves sounds
- the more the touch is made at the top, the more the creatures pop out high pitched sounds
- choose a Mood which consists in color gradient, sequences rules, scale
- choose to listen especially designed soundscapes in the background or not
- adjust the delay and the effect of time over the age of those digital creatures
- enjoy !

Minimalism, Zen & Quietness are the main words that could describe this iOS application.

The Mobile Mood Machine ‘s engine works with circular buffers recording til 8 sequences represented by 8 colors.
Each sequence is repeated according to specific rules related to the current chosen Mood.
Some Moods are minor, some are major with a lot of time between sequence repetitions, some are hypnotically repetitive.

You can choose to make creatures becoming old. In that case, they will progressively disappear and their sounds will have a bigger attack til their end, when they will completely disappear.
Some Moods make them to be old faster, or slower.

Here are some possible uses:
- walking in the street
- being in the train
- beginning to try to sleep
- before going to an hardcore meeting
- together with your loved one relaxed

This promising system have already a nice roadmap for the next months.
Especially, The mode Near Sleep Experience will provide a nice way to enter in sleep progressively with a VERY long fade out from the moment when you set up the global time of fading and the last notes played.
This is a nice digital creature holding your hand til the dreams’ world.

Worked on this noise/drone machine for iPad

Here is an audio sample of the iPad application which would be finished in 1 or 2 days.

I hope you’ll like the render.

More infos soon, but a very early view of the GUI:

Sound teaser from my coming iOS application

a very light teaser
without the visuals
only some sounds
from … an iOS device :)

It would be possible to port it to android… I’ll see that later and if you like it, you’ll have to request me to do that after the first video publication :)

A nice interview by ADEMAIN.TV

This is just me talking about, en français pour une fois, my project temporarily named Mobile Drone Machine
This is a project I’m currently developing myself around iOS framework.

The official place of that video is: http://ademain.tv
BIG UP to Axelle Benaïch / Design the future Now !

I’m currently at the specifications & sketching step.
More infos soon et vous moquez pas de mon accent qui chante!

A very early prototype…

Prototyping a drone machine driven by a processing script providing particles movements.
The sound engine is made with Max6.
The communication between the controller part & the sound engine is made using Open Sound Control protocol.

My purpose, here, is to make a prototype for further targets, one target being iOS.

The Drone 1.21 released

I just dropped a new version of The Drone Machine, now with automapping correct order for all knobs/dials.

If you already bought it, you can grab it for free as all minor versions.
Go there !

My video generator architecture

As described in a previous post about the fact I love to design minimalistic elements, I’m currently designing my video generator.
I need it since .. around 3 years and I already discussed about that here and there.

The more I play, the more I need it
For me, making music equals designing music.
The process includes algorithms & coding, sometimes.
Generative sequence (made for instance with my 2 own sequencers, including The MatriX sequencer) & generative video can coexist very well. Especially, I feel well with them.

It wouldn’t replace a VJ.
By writing that, I didn’t write it will be worse than a VJ, and no more it will be better than a VJ.
It just will be a special entity by itself, built to react and to inspire me while I’ll perform live.
It will also be a nice way to produce visuals for you if you are in front of me, not watching my screen, drinking something, wanting to see more visuals stuff.

OSC can be use internal or external on a network.
OSC is Open Sound Control.

I’ll deliver more later of course because I want to provide the Video Generator part.
Following some (very light, voluntarily) requirements, you’ll be able to build your own modules by programming (coding) and to use them with the video generator.

Stay tuned…

Designing minimal elements

Dear followers & friends,
I cannot tease too much, but a bit.
The word bit is important.
It defines “the smallest element in the digital world” named Binary digIT.

I love elementary structures, because Continue reading »

My tools are used in the real life !

Some people sent us their own music made with tools I designed!
It is really impressive to listen what they made & composed

I want to feature them as much as possible, so I hope they’ll send me more.

Especially, I’m totally amazed and fascinated by this track made with tools I designed (The Uncanny Sequencer + Drone Machine)
The user is named purzelifyable.

Listen to what those tools can produce in real life.

Both tools are available here:
+ + The famous Uncanny Sequencer
+ + The Drone Machine
