Ableton Live 8.2.8 released
Tweeter
8.2.8 has just been released.
I hope, especially, that this one doesn’t break anything related to max for live (LiveAPI in particular)
It could give me headache with my tools, in the other case :-/
There is now a feature to help directly support.
The program itself can pop out data to Ableton’s team.
It is provided as an option, which is very nice.
I guess some people could be annoyed by this concept.
Personally, I’m not annoyed but concerned because I don’t want to mix internet/network stuff with pure production stuff.
I’d like to know which kind of data would be popped out.
I’ll dig that
As written there, here are the light changelog:
Improvements:
- Added support for the Ableton Improvement Program, an automatic usage and data reporting tool.
To enable, add this line to your Options.txt file:-ImprovementProgramParticipation=On
More information about the Ableton Improvement Program can be found in our forum announcement.
(For more information about usng the Options.txt file, see http://www.ableton.com/pages/faq/options_text)
Bugfixes:
- Receiving MIDI CCs on a MIDI track’s input was causing a high CPU load on OS X Lion.
- Fixed a bug in the “Beats” warp mode which could lead to unwanted clicks in rare cases.
Collaborating with Michael L Penman
Tweeter
I just wanted to announce a collaboration with Michael L Penman & Design the Media.
He designed 133 presets for the Ableton Live’s synthesizer Operator.
You can see a video made using this pack
Operator is a nice FM synthesizer machine.
You can read this in order to understand its power!
Michael designed the presets and I produced the Operator Minimal Pack 01 product itseld
You can buy it or at least visit the page there.
Michael L Penman
Michael is a young ambitious producer/DJ, from Scotland but now based
in London. After many years of engineering other people records Michael
Decided to start producing for himself.
This has seen him release a number of tracks on Slovakian label
Leporelo. With each track possessing bouncy catchy bass lines, slamming
drums and a wide array of glitched out percussion and effect loops, this
has come to Michael’s signture sound.
It wasn’t to long till these little morsels soon tickled the taste buds of
many of the top djs, such as Richie Hawtin, Ambivalent and Dubfire to
name a few. With many of his productions being played week in and
week out.
Ambivalent was even so kind to have charted “Greasy Love” in his October
Glass Half Full Chart. And Michael’s unreleased track “WA” was played by
Richie Hawtin through out the summer of 2011 (and featured on pete
tongs radio one)

LFO 2.0 for Ableton Live
Tweeter
UPDATE: just featured by SYNTHTOPIA (many thanks)
After one year, I just worked and upgraded the famous LFO for Ableton Live.
It was the first real LFO officially supported (by us) for Ableton Live and it has a been liked & used by a lot of people.
If you already bought the LFO 1.x, it will be FREE for you so I suggest to go there if you didn’t buy it yet.
It will be available here: http://designthemedia.com/lfo
With LFO 2.0, you can modulate each parameters of your liveset in real time.
You only have to drop it in a MIDI track, click on a button then click on the parameter you want to modulate and it works.
You can use built-in waveforms or even draw your custom one.
You can use the LFO 2.0 synced with the Live’s transport, or totally free by setting up the frequency.
Features :
- modulation of ALL parameters including tracks’ mixers (volume, panning, sends)
- free or synced to transport
- classic & raw waveforms (sine, ramp up, ramp down, saw, square, noise)
- custom waveform available with the whiteboard to draw it with your mouse
- presets & liveset friendly (all is saved with your liveset including the custom waveform)
- undo history safe
- LFO can control LFO to produce rich and complex modulations
- MIDI thru compliant (you can use it directly in your MIDI instrument track)
- GUI remixed
- all LFO2.0 parameters auto mappable to APC40
Requirements :
- Ableton Live 8.2.x
- Max for Live
Cigùri – Russian Peacock

Cigùri is the mystical chaman goddess came from northern & strange territories.
You have to watch & listen ; you’ll enjoy for sure.
Her entry point is http://www.noomiz.com/cigurimusic
I personally met her in France at home.
She lives in Berlin.
We’ll collaborate in a close future, being a bit busy both of us.
My video generator begins to live
Tweeter
Designing & testing my video generator with Max & Max for Live as written in some previous posts (especially this one where you can see the global architecture), here is a very light & short video.
Thanks to Synthtopia for the review.
The video generated (in the little black window on the left) has been made with a javascript + MGraphics code designed by Darwin Grosse and provided the 02 / 11 / 12 here)
I altered it a bit in order to follow the requirements of the video generator (framework, I could add)
I’d like to make the core available for you.
We’ll see this point later but not very late
As I wrote previously, the only important point shown here in that video is the concept, not the video generated or else.
Also, I can say I’ll use it as soon as it will be fully functional.
My couple of algorithms will generated strange minimalistic videos and, all along my music performance, these videos will be altered, changed by :
- me tweaked parameters not directly related to visuals (I push a button to mute, I accelerate the tempo, I tweak a panning on this track)
- audio part of music itself (volume, frequency too)
